INCLUSION (click!)
"...a very inclusive school". Ofsted 2007. At Westwood everyone's special and we understand that children have different abilities and learn at different rates.
We are committed to giving all our children every opportunity to achieve the highest of standards. Curriculum planning ensures that this happens for all children in our school, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, attainment or background.
We take care to ensure that all pupils are included in learning opportunities and that children with learning or physical disabilities receive fair and favourable treatment. In addition to using the Special Educational Needs "Code Of Practice" we maintain a Gifted, Most Able and Talented Register.
Teachers carefully assess potential and track progress. Whether youngsters have a specific disability (like dyslexia) or a talent for art or P.E, we aim to meet their needs.
To help us to do this we have a team of specialist staff (see KEY PEOPLE) who support pupils and ensure that targets and learning tasks are tailored to suit individual children.
